Western Digital's Passport external drive for Mac isn't eternally bound to macOS. By formatting the Passport as an exFAT or FAT32 drive, you can use it with Windows computers, too. Western Digital must have heard that from their customer base as the 1TB model cost me $80 CDN which is the same cost as the PC version. In the case of the latter, Western Digital has a compelling offering in the form of the My Passport For Mac that makes this easy for Mac users. Hello everybody: The first time I used the HD My Passport Ultra was in a Mac. I formated the HD, as instructed by the company on its website, and it worked well. Now I need to use the HD in a Windows computer. But it looks like Windows does not recognize the HD. I can’t understand. The box says that it was made for Windows. The fact that I formated it earlier for Mac means that it will no longer work for Windows platform? Is there anything I can do now to make the HD work for both platforms: Windows and Mac? I am kind of desperate. I would really appreciate any help. Diskutil eraseVolume ExFAT MyName diskX Once again replace X with disk number. The drive is now assessable. Adobe acrobat reader dc problems. However I can only format the drive to FAT and not JHFS, formatting to JHFS returns the same error as described at the top of the post.
